- Get all the information you need about Cornell's game at Minnesota today (7 p.m. local time tip off) with The Cornell Basketball Blog's Game Preview Center.
- SBNation of Chicago notes that today's game between visitor Cornell and home Minnesota will be televised on the Big Ten Network (DirecTV Channel 610 for those using satellite) at 7 p.m. local time. SBNation writes, "7 p.m., Big Ten Network: College basketball, Cornell at No. 13 Minnesota. Today, apparently, is 'Big Ten Picks On The Ivy League Day.' The Deep Dish is reminded of what Northwestern students used to yell at Illinois students when the Illini beat up on them: 'That's all right, that's OK, we're gonna be your boss someday!'"
- Cornell recruit, Galal Cancer scored 11 points in his season opener as Christian Bros. Academy of Albany defeated Troy, 61-57.
- UMHoops.com has a video clip of John Beilein's press conference in Ann Arbor previewing the Harvard at Michigan game. Beilein tells the media that the two Ivies no one wanted to play historically were Penn and Princeton, but Cornell has moved into that realm. He added that Cornell scored more points against Wisconsin in the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament last year than Michigan did in two games against the Badgers.
- Rush The Court checks in with the America East Conference and notes of Cornell's loss last Saturday at B.U., "The Cornell Big Red found out that Terriers are not just the John Holland show."
- The Daily Free Press of Boston U. writes, "First-year Cornell coach Bill Courtney acknowledged that he didn't focus the bulk of his gameplan on Boston University men's basketball junior guard Darryl Partin, who torched his Big Red squad for a career-high 32 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc [last] Saturday at Case Gymnasium. 'He hadn't done that yet this year,' said the Cornell University bench boss. 'No, you don't figure on that. You knew he was kind of a streak shooter, and we talked to the guys about not letting him get going.'"
- The Boston Globe writes of the hiring of Steve Donahue at B.C., "Steve Donahue was available, fresh from an historic run at Cornell during which he had terminated the three-decade tyranny of the Ivy League imposed by Princeton and Penn by assembling a team that could play with anyone in the land. It was time for Donahue, a 20-year veteran of the Ivies as a Penn assistant and Cornell head man, to play for bigger stakes."
- Cornell RPI Watch: The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider the margin of victory, but only whether or not a team won and where the game was played (home/away/neutral court). The formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP). (See: CollegeRPI.com for a further explanation of the formula.) The RPI may be the most influential factor in NCAA Tournament seeding. Cornell's RPI rank as of December 4 is No. 187 out of 347 total Division I teams. While neither the Ken Pomeroy or Jeff Sagarin rankings are used by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, the KenPom.com site ranks Cornell No. 195 in the nation, while the USA Today Sagarin rankings have Cornell at No. 193 Both sites are predominantly used by fans and the media.
